INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE
Taekwon-Do for everyone

Taekwon-Do for everyone

On this April 6th our Taekwon-Do groups join the White Card digital campaign to raise an approaching to peace, empathy and solidarity. ITF Taekwon-Do is a martial art and a way of life, but we are also an sport, and also a recreative activity and a tool for social development. And this is my work alongside with many people that I will lose count if I mention all of them. But, if they read this article they will know that from the bottom of my heart I thank them. Through programs such as Kids Program, Harmony Program and Adapted Program we bring people from all range of ages to learn and enjoy Taekwon-Do in a different way. Also we follow our five tenets: courtesy, integrity, perseverance and indomitable spirit that permeated and shaped the everyday training of Taekwon-Do. And we are qualifying instructors to teach better with good teaching methodology and the beast with a an empathetic attitude. So, everyone who step  inside our dojang have stepped on the path that is worth taking. With ITF Taekwon-Do we make feel our students it was the right choice to begin with this martial art, the way to become a martial artist and become a better person everyday.

Tchoukball on the april6 2022

Tchoukball on the april6 2022

Tchoukball players from many countries took part on the #idsp2022 Brazil, Colombia, Togo, Cameroun and Tunisia on this picture. Tchoukball is recognized by the UN for its educational values and peace building, in a sport without physical contact and open to everyone.

Support the development of tchoukball in school, clubs and associations around the world as a transformation tool and character building.

Direct contact and coaching courses are provided for news groups interested in developing the sport.

Tchoukball can be played and adapted to different space and ground type, from a basketball court to the street, from beach to grass. A dynamic sport that teaches respect during the practice and out of the court.

Dr Hermann Brandt, creator of tchoukball, believed that sports should be not only for champions, but also contribute to the creation of a better and more humane society. He designed tchoukball to contain elements of handball (it is played with hands, and the balls used are similar), volleyball (as the defending team must prevent the ball from falling) and squash (since there is a rebound).

Tchoukball is played in over 60 countries around the world and official national and international events are regularly hold in all the continents.

Coaching material, videos available in many languages for free.

Kickboxing for Everyone

Kickboxing for Everyone

As April 6th is the commemoration of the hard work being carried out every day by international sport organizations, athletes, coaches and NGOs that play a fundamental role by transmitting the educational values of sports to people of all ages throughout the world. We also join this movement, now more than ever in middle of some many disaster globally, we need to stand for peace through something that bring us together: Sports. And this is what I am doing with Kickboxing and Taekwon-Do programs in our training center in Taipei City, alongside with my wife, who has fully supported my ideals and projects. With these initiatives we must rise up to reach the ideal to build a better world. The White Card Campaign on April 6th provides the opportunity to highlight sport as a force for peace and to demonstrate that sport can accelerate social transformation and foster the construction of inclusive and peaceful societies. This is my second time joining this campaign alongside with my kickboxing students after our nigh training this Wednesday.

Soccer and wrestling for peace, education and inclusion

Soccer and wrestling for peace, education and inclusion

The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Technical Council of Diplomacy and Sports Cooperation held two events to commemorate the international day for development and peace.

A soccer tournament in collaboration with the Qatar Embassy in México where 13 diplomatic representations from Romania, Kazakhstan, USA, El Salvador, European Union, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Peru, Canada, United Kingdom, Turkey and Qatar with the objective to promote solidarity, peace and give a message of fraternity among all the participants.

The presentation of the chapter “Diversity in wrestling” of the miniseries “Unmasking wrestling” in collaboration with the World Wrestling Council and the UNESCO Representation in Mexico. This presentation was made during a live wrestling performance in which representatives of the three institutions launched messages promoting sport for development and peace before hundreds of fans who raised white cards in support and commitment to the initiative.

Gala Lutteroth, Cultural Liaison Director of the World Wrestling Council thanked this opportunity to talk for the inclusion in sports, where there have been a lot of women who have Exalted Mexican wrestling all over the world while they are also supportive in their families. She spoke also for the LGBBTTQ community which has brought not only new wrestlers but also great human beings, athletes and joy to the ring and have given a new perspective for respect and freedom to the CMLL.

Erik Del Angel, Executive coordinator of the Technical Council of Diplomacy and Sports Cooperation accentuate on inclusive Societies and a more egalitarian, equitable and inclusive sport. He also said that it is inevitable to talk about the need for peace in different conflicts in the world where great initiatives, figures, associations, committees, and leagues appear but there are also small ones like the fans that manifest their willing to peace by having no Altercations within wrestling events

Finally Mr. Vacheron representative of UNESCO in Mexico said that according to a major Lancet study, more than 41% of physical activity was decreased in the first few months of lockdown. HE reminded us that  Sport within COVID-19 pandemic is fundamental to people’s psychological well-being. The decrease in physical activity is, therefore, a health problem, including mental health, of the utmost importance, which is even more worrying because today it mainly affects young people.

He also mentioned that UNESCO at the global level works closely with the International Olympic Committee and UN Women, with whom they have founded the World Observatory on Women, Sport, Physical Education and Physical Activity, whose mission is to better detect the obstacles that continue to hinder women’s access to sport.

HE celebrated the promotion of sport for all people which is also the challenge of the first phase of UNESCO’s “Fit for Life” initiative, which will measure the impact of sport and physical culture on the Sustainable Development Goals. This work will serve as a basis for a global reflection on the integration of sport into public policies, not only in the fields of sport, but also in those of health, education and youth. In this sense, we are working with Foreign Affairs and the Mexican Olympic Committee, to implement Fit for life in Mexico.
