Sustainable Development Goals and Sport
05 April 2019 18:00 - 21:30
Barcelona Foundation and Organization Earth, on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6, calls all organizations involved in social inclusion programs through sport for vulnerable social groups to an open dialogue on Friday 5 April.
This day, established by the UN in 2013, aims to highlight the fundamental values of sport (team work, justice, discipline, respect for the opponent) and their contribution to combating prejudice and all forms of discrimination, the prevalence of peace and harmonious coexistence, but also to sensitize more people, especially children, to the adaptation of a healthy lifestyle.
Sport has historically played an important role in all societies, has the power to attract, inspire and contribute to social inclusion regardless of cultural, geographical, religious, political and social differences. Sport is a powerful tool for strengthening social ties, promoting peaceful coexistence, brotherhood, gender equality, solidarity, non-violence, acceptance of diversity and fairness.
