‘Peace and Sport, L’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport’ is a politically neutral international organization founded in 2007 under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, by Joël Bouzou, Olympic medallist and World champion in the modern pentathlon.
The organization works to build sustainable peace throughout the world by promoting the practice of structured sport as a tool for educating young generations and fostering social stability, rapprochement and dialogue among communities.
Peace and Sport launched the website april6.org in 2014 in order to create a global movement around the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. To mark the first edition, the organization mobilized its expertise, its network and its know-how to support stakeholders worldwide who work daily to build a better society through sport.
Since 2014, the use of this platform has met great success, with a final count over the 4 years of 2 960 registered projects and more than 180 countries participating.
The celebration of this symbolic day demonstrates just how many people there are, around the world and from all walks of life, using sport to tackle social issues. April6 is their day, let's honour the importance of their work and the efforts they lend daily to furthering the peace cause! The more people take part in this celebration, the more powerful the message!
