DOSB promoted U15 football tournament in Tegucigalpa
06 April 2014 08:30 - 14:00
Since 2010 Christoph Rocholl has been in Honduras to run a long-term project in football on behalf of the German Olympic Sports Confederation and the Federal Foreign Office.
As well as in the other six long-term projects supported by the German Olympic Sports Federation and the Federal Foreign Office, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace was celebrated in Honduras. Christoph Rocholl organized a tournament for U15-teams from different regions in Honduras. Due to long distances and high travel costs, many of them participated in a tournament in Tegucigalpa for the first time. Lic. Rafael Leonardo Callejas, President FENAFUTH, welcomed everybody and Katia Hartel, representative of the German Ambassy, got a t-shirt for every participant as a surprise before the boys started to play football in thrilling matches.
For Christoph Rocholl the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace was a good opportunity to show the boys that sport is a good way of “fighting” without violence and that it can help to find new friends, to accept each other and to live respectfully together in a country where violence is part of the everyday life.
