Sport2build organizes sport activities under the principle of “sport for all”, through the programs called “Never give up” for children and youth, with the aim of maximizing access and participation to physical activities and emphasizing the inclusion of all groups in society regardless of gender, ability or culture.
The idea is to associate educational empowerment with social, mental and physical development of vulnerable children and youth through organized sport and recreational activities.
The link between sport activities and education aims to engage and prepare the most disadvantaged children and dropouts for more formal education by means of training in basic life skills. Different case studies from across the world show that this extracurricular program substantially increases the enrolment, participation, attention and performance of disadvantaged children at school.
Divided in four categories, under 12 Boys and Girls and above 12 Boys and Girls, the participants will run from Mukwamba Village, where the Sport2build school is under construction to Chipapa football ground, about 5 km. 300 youths and children are expected for the event. All participants are registered by the coaches at the departure point on the day of the race.
The race is associated to a life skill theme which is developed with activities, presentations, team works, drama performances. The life skills activities are designed in a way to assure the active participation of all children and youths involved, they are fun and interactive far from a ‘lecturing’ approach and are age appropriate to the target group. Informative material such as booklets will be distributed to the participants. A culture group from Kafue will perform.
