This fun filled\nactivity will represent and highlight the sporting values of respect, fair\nplay, and participation that help build a peaceful nuclear free world.\n\nThis event is also one of many efforts around the world\nparticipating in the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace such\nas #WhiteCard (http://www.april6.org/en/white-card.html)\nand Global Wave 2015. The video taken at our local event will be shown in front\nof all the world leaders attending the U.N. meetings.Governments will meet at the United Nations over four\nweeks in April-May 2015 for the five-yearly review of the nuclear\nNon-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Civil society is calling on governments to end\nthe threat of nuclear weapons by negotiating for their complete prohibition and\nelimination - a requirement of the NPT.\n\nGlobal Wave 2015 is a world-wide event calling on\ngovernments meeting in New York to cooperate on developing a process to abolish\nand eliminate nuclear weapons. The Global Wave involves simple public actions\nin cities around the world to “wave” goodbye to nuclear weapons. \n\n Addison Staples, GACTA Executive\nDirector, explains that the organization is sponsoring this unique community\ntennis event in support of Global Wave 2015 because “the platform and power of Sport\ncan serve as a voice to larger social issues that can be leveraged in bringing\nawareness to important topics such as Peace.”  \n\nThere will\nbe a Free USTA Play Day for junior players from 11am-1pm, and the community tennis\nevent will overlap/follow from 12-3 pm.
