PROPOSED ACTIVITIES FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE DAY
Divided in four categories, under 12 Boys and Girls and above 12 Boys and Girls, the participants will run from Chipapa football ground to Mukwamba Village, where the Sport2build school is under construction, about 5 km. 400 youths and children are expected for the event. All participants are registered by the coaches at the departure point on the day of the race.
The race is associated to a life skill theme which is developed with activities, presentations, team works, drama performances. The life skills activities are designed in a way to assure the active participation of all children and youths involved, they are fun and interactive far from a ‘lecturing’ approach and are age appropriate to the target group. Age appropriate informative material on HIV and SRH will be distributed to the participants. A culture group from Kafue will perform.
All participants will receive a race pack at the arrival. This will include: water, Sport2build – Sport for Development and Peace bracelet, pencil, exercise book, life skill booklet/leaflet, (sanitary pads for girls over 12).
The best 20 in each category will receive prices including a bicycle for the firsts, blankets, pots, mattresses.
All participants will be served a basic lunch of Nshima, chicken and vegetables with a soft drink.
