To mark the 2nd International Day of Sport for Development and Peace Kashmir Development Foundation (KDF) in partnership with District Football Association Mirpur and Maqbool Butt Shaheed Football Club Bhimber is organising a Football match in Bhimber, Azad Jammu Kashmir on 6th April 2015.This event will help in advancing the knowledge and awareness among the people of all ages to recognise the potential of sport to build relations, bridge divisions and develop networks across communities and cultures for conflict transformation , just peace and development in Jammu Kashmir. Kashmir remains one of the most highly militarized regions in the world and the theatre for four wars between India and Pakistan over the sovereignty status of former princely State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The United Nations has recognised the State of Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory and the J&K conflict is one of the oldest unresolved issues on its agenda whilst also being a potential flash point for nuclear conflagration between the two South Asian nuclear powers (India and Pakistan).
