The ISA, as the World Governing Authority recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the sport of Surfing, StandUp Paddle, and all other wave riding activities, plans to showcase the power of Surfing as a tool for development and peace by empowering and sharing media and initiatives hosted in our 96 Member Nations.
Surfing is a sport that transcends all barriers of wealth, status, race, creed, gender, age, and physical ability. Surfers are a unique tribe who ride waves for their innate love of the sport, the thrill of competition, and the bond they share with fellow surfers and the ocean. The ocean is an equalizer for us and, in addition to being a global sport Olympic pursuits, Surfing is also a tool that positively impacts people’s lives and acts as a catalyst for social change, development, and peace.
