Two days will be held as part of the April 6 celebration: kickboxing day and table tennis day.
Kickboxing open day
On March 24, 50 boys and 50 girls benefited from capacity building sessions by WAKO experts. Kickboxing and self-defense demonstrations were followed by a collective #WhiteCard. Coaches Ali and Nesrin also benefited from the capacity building sessions.
Table Tennis Open Day
On March 31, experts from the ITTF Foundation will organize a table tennis demonstration and will end with a collective WhiteCard.
Peace and Sport President and Founder Joël Bouzou will sit on the panel «Gathering for Peace – Qatar Peace and Sport Cup 2011» with Peace Champion Ryu Seung-Min and Khalil Al-Mohannadi. This conference will be held on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy and World Table Tennis Day on April 6.
On the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Peace and Development (IDSDP), the Peacemakers join the mobilization of April 6, 2022 through the implementation of several initiatives that have with the aim of highlighting the power of sport for peace. All the initiatives launched by the Peacemakers to celebrate April 6 will end with a collective photo #WhiteCard, a symbol of peace through sport.
Mobilization of Terres-en-Mêlées in Togo
The mobilization of the Peacemakers will begin on March 25 at 9 am in Togo with an inter-school educational meeting. During this event, the 200 participants from the Mariam and Itiyane schools will be able to participate in peace activities through rugby. This celebration, organized by the Togolese association, will also welcome researchers from the University of Paris-Nanterre and members of Peace and Sport.
Mobilization of the Naandi Foundation in India
At the end of March, the Naandi Foundation in India will celebrate April 6 with the closing of its project: the «Toofan Games». This project is a national tournament that has been going on for months and in which more than 180,000 girls from 4,000 towns in different parts of the country participate. The closure of this project will be celebrated with the final of the tournament.
Mobilization of AKWOS Rwanda
April 6 celebrations will kick off in Rwanda, with a demonstration of the Peace and Sport Methodology at a school in the country’s capital, Kigali. Participating in these demonstrations will be the beneficiary children of the programme, the teachers and Caroline Boury, an expert in the Peace and Sport Methodology.
Mobilization of Cop Colombia Internacional
The COP Colombia association will also organize a celebration for the April 6 mobilization. Several sports demonstrations will be held in the Usme district of Bogotá with the participation of beneficiaries of the Peace and Sport Methodology.
Mobilization of Tibu Africa in Morocco
The mobilization of Peacemakers will end on April 6 with the launch of a training bootcamp in Morocco within the framework of the «Girls CAN» project of the Tibu Africa association. This bootcamp will benefit 36 girls between the ages of 20 and 25 in a precarious situation, from the suburbs of Casablanca. The launch of this project will be followed by a training session on the Peace and Sport Methodology scheduled for April 25-28.
Within the framework of the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (April 6, 2022), the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, in close coordination with the international organization Peace and Sport and with a group of partners nationals, organize a Run for Peace (walk and 5 km run) on April 9 and 10.
In order to involve as many citizens as possible, this initiative will be promoted in different parts of the country, including the walk and run centers of the Portuguese Athletics Federation and the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores. There will also be collections of food and other goods in the city of Lisbon, to be sent to the Ukrainian territory.
The mobilization of April 6, 2022 takes place under the slogan: «Sport: a response for peace». Participation in these marches for peace will be an excellent way to highlight the power of sport to break down social, religious or ethnic barriers, enable dialogue and unite us towards a single goal: the promotion of peace.
Within the framework of the SSSPNI Master and on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the Peace and Sport organization organizes a round table «Sport as a response for peace» in collaboration with the University of Paris Nanterre.
