On April 6th, 2022, the Olympic Committee of Cabo Verde organized a multisport event in collaboration with the French Embassy in Cabo Verde and the Paralympic Committee of Cabo Verde, in the framework of Terre de Jeux, a program aimed at promoting the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
It was a great opportunity to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace as well. We gathered 250 children from 5 clubs and schools from Praia (capital city of Cabo Verde), to run an Olympic relay in the city, with an Olympic torch made fo recycled materials. Then, the children practiced 9 different sports (dancing, teqball, karate, handball, fencing, athletics, traditional games, football, basketball) and were sensitized to some important social issues.
This multisport event was organized by the participants of a 5-days workshop managed by Sport for Life, where the trainees worked on how to organize community multisport event with scarce resources.
Besides the 250 children, the event gathered representatives from the Olympic Committee of Cabo Verde, the French Embassy in Cabo Verde, the Paralympic Committee of Cabo Verde, the National Olympic Academy, Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Cabo Verde, and the diplomatic entities.
