Under the leadership of the Office of the Ombudsman, the Colombian institution responsible for promoting human rights, and the partner organization of the Peacemakers Project Cop Colombia, the Colombian departments of Cauca and Guajira, as well as the district of Usme in Bogotá, will take part in the global mobilization around April6. Each territory will organize its own activities and all of them will deploy a giant WhiteCard for the event, symbol of peace through sport.
In Usme, the mobilization promises to be large-scale. The territory is counting on the participation of thirty schools and sports clubs, with nearly 800 beneficiaries. Through sports activities, participants will be made aware of peace through sport and the Peace and Sport Methodology. The deployment of a giant WhiteCard will reaffirm Usme’s commitment to the peace-through-sport movement.
This is not the first time that Colombia takes an active role in the celebration of April6. Back in 2018, the #WhiteCard campaign was launched in Colombia in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Nobel Peace Prize winner and President of the Republic Juan Manuel Santos, Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, Peace and Sport’s President and Founder Joël Bouzou, and Peace and Sport’s Vice-President Didier Drogba.
